Brockton Redevelopment Authority
The Narrow Gate worked with the Brockton Redevelopment Authority (BRA) to develop a set of guidelines to accompany the BRA’s Commercial Façade Improvement Program. Addressed toward small business owners in Brockton’s growing Campello commercial district, the guidelines provide a framework for prioritizing and designing improvements to existing storefronts. The 30-page document includes a set of design principles aimed at improving the pedestrian experience of the Campello district like “Best Face Forward” and “Show, Don’t Tell” as well as a collection of recommendations for improvements at different budgets. The document also includes definitions and visual explanations of architectural terms, as well as a number of resources for further guidance and funding.
